Recrafting™ - Restore

The simplest way to reuse existing furniture is by refinishing it

By refinishing and/or resurfacing existing furniture we can extend its life. A restore project can involve a surface refinish such as reveneering or respraying to restore them after continued use and wear. It can also involve upgrading and modernizing integrated power requirements.

Project Case Study - Baird

These FlipTop™ tables (one of our most popular products) were originally produced by Opus Magnum and were still structurally sound after many years of use. They required a simple freshen up to modernise the integrated power requirements and breathe new life into these pieces. The tables were originally walnut so were transformed by reedging and reveneering in crown grain Oak. Metalwork structural pedestal and foot plates were sound and freshened up. The reuse of all of the original metalwork meant that there was a massive CO2e* savings in the production of these tables 145.9 kgCO2e* per table (compared to production of new table with same design).

  • Incorporating existing, perceived end of life materials, into new furniture is a more sustainable design approach. Existing materials can utilised from the client’s existing furniture, sourced from 3rd parties or even produced as off-cuts from our workshop.

We are open to working with furniture that was not originally made by us.

  • We work with design teams to explore the many options that existing furniture has when it comes to reuse. One of these is reimagining it. By completely reconfiguring existing pieces they can become part of the continued story of a space.
